Advisory Panel
Advisory Members support the mission of the Future Solutions Foundation by providing general perspective, awareness, and expertise as requested by the Board from time to time. The role is strictly advisory and does not involve governance, management, or operational responsibilities. Advisory Members do not hold decision-making authority, voting rights, or fiduciary duties, and all decisions remain the responsibility of the Foundation’s Board.
Peter Fam
Advisory Member – Legal
Peter Fam is a specialist human rights lawyer and civil litigator with extensive experience representing individuals and organisations in complex legal matters across Australia. As Principal of Maat’s Method, he established an independent human rights practice dedicated to defending fundamental freedoms and advocating for individuals whose rights have been breached.
Peter has worked on large-scale cases in Australia’s highest courts and across multiple jurisdictions, primarily representing individuals against government institutions, police, and multinational corporations.
His work focuses on areas including human rights law, administrative law, discrimination law, employment law, privacy law, AHPRA matters, and broader civil litigation involving issues of justice and accountability.
As a member of the Advisory Panel, Peter contributes his expertise in human rights law, advocacy, and legal strategy, supporting the Foundation’s mission to assist individuals and families navigating the complex legal challenges associated with medical negligence.
Prof Gigi Foster
Advisory Member – Economics & Public Policy
Professor Gigi Foster is a behavioural economist and Professor in the School of Economics at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). She holds a BA in Ethics, Politics and Economics from Yale University and a PhD in Economics from the University of Maryland. Since joining UNSW in 2009, her research has focused on behavioural and experimental economics, education economics, social influence, time use, and public policy.
Professor Foster is widely recognised for her contributions to economic research and public debate. She was named Young Economist of the Year (2019) by the Economic Society of Australia and is a frequent media commentator on economic and policy issues. She is also the co-author of several books, including The Great Covid Panic.
Beyond academia, Professor Foster is a co-founder and director of Australians for Science and Freedom, a multidisciplinary organisation of academics, clinicians, and professionals dedicated to promoting open scientific inquiry, evidence-based public policy, and transparency in decision-making. Through this work, she contributes to public dialogue on the role of science in society, particularly in relation to health policy, civil liberties, and institutional accountability.
As a member of the Advisory Panel, Professor Foster provides independent insight and perspective informed by her expertise in economics, public policy, and scientific debate.
Allona Lahn
Advisory Member – Community Engagement & Grassroots Leadership
Allona Lahn is a Division 5 Councillor with Gympie Regional Council and a passionate advocate for strong, connected communities. With a deep personal connection to the Gympie region, she is known for her hands-on approach to community engagement and her commitment to helping regional communities thrive.
Since settling in Mothar Mountain, Allona has actively contributed to local initiatives, serving as President of the Mothar Mountain Hall where she has led the revitalisation of this historic community space. Through organising markets, events, and securing community grants, she has helped foster connection, support local enterprise, and strengthen community networks.
With a background in business, hospitality, and event management, Allona brings a practical and energetic approach to leadership. She is committed to raising awareness, sharing knowledge and resources, and supporting initiatives that help prevent medical negligence, empowering individuals and communities to make informed decisions and protect themselves from harm.
As an Advisory Panel member, Allona brings valuable expertise in community engagement and grassroots leadership, supporting the Foundation’s mission to empower and educate communities.
Michael O’Neill
Advisory Member – Public Policy
Michael O’Neill has extensive experience in public policy advocacy and community leadership, with a particular focus on legislation and regulatory frameworks relating to health and medical products in Australia. Over many years he has been actively involved in discussions surrounding state and federal legislation, contributing to public dialogue on regulatory policy, transparency, and patient rights.
Michael is the founder of the HEART Party (Health, Environment, Accountability, Rights and Transparency), an Australian political movement established to advocate for greater transparency and accountability in public policy, including matters relating to health regulation and individual rights.
As an Advisory Panel Member of Future Solutions Foundation, Michael brings valuable expertise in policy advocacy and legislative engagement, supporting the Foundation’s mission to assist individuals and families affected by medical negligence and to promote improved awareness, accountability, and support pathways within the healthcare system.
Dr Julie Sladden
Advisory Member – Medical and Clinical
Dr Julie Sladden is a medical doctor and writer with over 25 years of clinical experience across multiple disciplines in Australia and the United Kingdom. She is a passionate advocate for professionalism, ethics, and transparency in healthcare, with a strong focus on improving systems and outcomes through evidence-based, preventative approaches.
Through her work, Dr Sladden combines clinical insight with public commentary and policy engagement, contributing to national discussions on medical ethics, regulatory accountability, and health system reform. Her writing has been published in outlets including The Spectator Australia and The Daily Declaration, where she brings clarity and perspective to complex healthcare issues.
In addition to her medical and writing career, Dr Sladden was elected as a Local Government Councillor for West Tamar in Tasmania in 2022. She is committed to supporting thriving, resilient communities, with a particular interest in health, wellbeing, and informed public policy.
